Obituary

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014, Albin R. Januszewski ended his courageous battle with leukemia and passed away peacefully at his home in Houston. Visitation at Brenham Memorial Chapel will be held Thursday, June 26 from 5-7 p.m. On Friday, June 27, rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. by the Knights of Columbus Council 2917 at Pat H. Foley Funeral Home, 1200 W. 34th St., Houston with visitation from 5-8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4419 N. Main St., Houston on Saturday, June 28 at 11 a.m. Graveside will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Brenham at 2:30 p.m.

Albin was born December 24, 1931 in Brenham to Frank and Mary (Konieczny) Januszewski. He grew up on the farm and started raising cattle, growing corn and cotton. At an early age, Albin learned to play the guitar by ear. He loved playing in country and western bands, especially singing and playing Polish music.

He served two years in the U.S. Army, during the Korean War and then six years in the reserves. He was employed by Houston ISD working on boilers and retired serving 35 years.

Albin met the love of his life Angie Zientek and married on October 12, 1957 at Christ the King Catholic Church. They celebrated 56 wonderful years together.

Memberships included Knights of Columbus Bishop Odin Council # 2917, American Legion Post 620, along with many others.

Albin was a devoted Catholic and cherished his family. He had great pride in his Polish heritage.

Albin was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Max and Gertrude Zientek; sisters, Regina Metzler, Julia Antkowiak, Angela Twardowski; and beloved son-in-law Michael Lahrmann.

Surviving family includes: wife, Angie; son, Tommie Januszewski and wife Kim; daughters, Diane Vento and husband Steven, and Tina Lahrmann; grandchildren, Tiffany and Wesley Davenport, Brittany and Tanner Jacob, Keli and Zachary Barham, Kyle Vento, Amber Lahrmann, and Blake Lahrmann; great-grandchildren, Kannon Jacob, Kaylee Barham and on the way Baby Davenport; brother Stanley Januszewski and wife Angie; sisters and brother-in-law, Clara Wesneski, Natalie and Harold Wesneski ; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Daniel and Barbara Zientek and Pete and Clara Zientek; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be: Kyle Vento, Blake Lahrmann, Tanner Jacob, Zachary Barham, Wesley Davenport, Ricky Januszewski, Michael Antkowiak, Dale Zientek and John Zientek. Nephews and nieces are honorary pallbearers.
