Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 1, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Brenham with Rev. David Ottsen officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Mrs. Picone was born July 7, 1917 in Brenham to Albert and Meta Rogas Giesecke. She was a graduate of Brenham High School and was employed as a bookkeeper for Citizens and Tristams Pharmacy and later as a bookkeeper in their family business.

She was baptized September 29, 1918 and later confirmed in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. On February 9, 1936 she married Joe Picone in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was confirmed by Bishop Quinn in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on July 2, 1944.

She loved people and was affectionately known by family and friends as Tincy and was a most kind and caring person. She loved and cared for her family dearly. When they were able, she and Joe would visit regularly with friends in the hospitals and rest homes and always call friends who were ill. As a homemaker she enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for family and decorating her home at Christmas to entertain their business employees.

As active members of St. Peter’s, the Picones helped with the popular St. Peter’s Episcopal Turkey Dinners for years. She was a past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and an officer in the Brenham Band Parents Club. Some of her great enjoyments were her bowling league and her ladies poker group as well as family pitch games.

Left to cherish her love and dedication are: son Joe Al Picone and wife Merle; daughter Jo Lynn Smith and husband Pat; grandchildren Kyle Picone, Kevin Picone and wife Stacy, Tanya Thomas and husband Jarred, and Brittni Dimitt; great-grandchildren Landry Picone, Taylor Thomas, Jace Thomas, Victoria Thomas, Wyatt Dimitt, and Parker Dimitt; sisters-in-law Nell Picone and Bette Picone; special nieces Charlesette Polk and Wanda Buntzel who did so much for her, and numerous other nieces and nephews.
