Obituary

Alois Zientek, 91 of Brenham, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015 at the family residence. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm with Rosary by the Knights of Columbus at
7 pm, Thursday, February 5 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 pm, Friday, February 6 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgrs. Benedict and Boleslaus Zientek, as celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Alois was born May 20, 1923 in Brenham to John and Frances (Bilski) Zientek and attended local schools. He was baptized in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and confirmed in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 10, 1958, he was married to Regina Halfmann. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and is the oldest living member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed visiting friends at the Gay Hill Shooting Club. Alois was an electrical contractor for sixty years.

Gardening, hunting, fishing and driving his tractor were his past times. His prized tomatoes were his pride and he loved to share vegetables. He enjoyed playing dominoes, listening to the Brenham Cubs on the transistor radio, reading the newspaper. He loved to pray and was fluent in the Polish language and had a love for farm animals. His two favorite songs were “Luckenbach, Texas” and “On Top of Old Smokey”. He was known to many as “Short Circuit “.

Alois is survived by his loving family: wife Regina; children: Cecilia Schramm, Julia Jones, Oscar Zientek, Maxine Parker, Patrick (wife Sandra) Zientek, Robert (wife Linda) Zientek; brothers Monsignor Benedict Zientek, Julian Zientek , Monsignor “Boli” Zientek; his 12 grandchildren are Jamie Emick, Jackie Cunningham, Eric Jones, Neil Jones, Megan, Morgan and Michael Parker, Adrienne and Kelsey Zientek, Kasey, Grace and Matthew Zientek ; 5 great grandchildren along with nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Januszewski, Sophie Zientek; brother Stanley Zientek; son Remi Zientek; sons-in-law James Jones and Merrill Schramm.

Pallbearers are his 5 grandsons Eric Jones, Neil Jones, Michael Parker, Kasey Zientek and Matthew Zientek, Randy Schwartz, David Schwartz and Jerry Schwartz. Honorary pallbearers are Jimbo Hafner, Ronnie Holle, Wally Schlabach, Ralph Kallie, Sam Murski, Paul Murski and various musician friends, Members of the Gay Hill Shooting Club, Knights of Columbus and Employees of HD & Dealers Electrical Supply.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
