Obituary

Anita Sue “Hairgrove” Schofe passed away on May 11, 2017 at home in Brenham, Texas. She was born to James Albert Hairgrove and Mary Sue “Blair” Hairgrove (later Muzzy) in Muskogee, Oklahoma on August 19, 1945. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle “Lewis” Czulada; grandchildren, Sydney Michelle Czulada and Kevin Andrew Czulada; son-in-law, Ronald Andrew Czulada; and brother, Robert “Bob” Hairgrove and wife Sandra Goldberg.

Professionally Anita enjoyed careers in the banking and sales industry throughout her adult life, but her true passion was in hospitality and entertaining, either at home or in another’s home. Her door was always open (backdoor was best) for anyone seeking a wonderfully home cooked gourmet meal, to discuss the latest cooking trends, to enjoy vegetables and herbs from her garden, to learn how to cook, to discuss gardening issues, and to enjoy a gin martini. She was so successful and passionate about cooking for others that she had her own catering business at one time. She loved throwing “themed” parties. Having a Titanic themed dinner party found her guests dressed in attire from the period and Anita cooked food that had actually been served on the Titanic. Many friends and family will miss her cooking and her constant search for the next recipe to try. But more than entertaining, Anita loved her grandchildren and cherished her “Grammy” time with Sydney and Kevin spoiling them from infancy up through adulthood. She will be missed by all.

Private viewing for immediate family will be in Brenham, Texas. Graveside services will be at Morton Cemetery in Richmond, Texas at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday May 18, where friends and family are welcome to share memories and stories of time with Anita.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations to Hospice Brazos Valley in her honor.

We come from the Earth
We return to the Earth
And in between
We Garden
