Obituary

Annie Wieghat Gaskamp, age 94, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. Kyle Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was born October 1, 1922 to Fritz and Amanda (Schmidt) Wieghat in Brenham. She was baptized November 19, 1922 and confirmed May 9, 1937 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Annie attended school in Wiedeville and was a proud graduate of Brenham High School in 1942. Annie married Walter August Gaskamp on June 10, 1945 in St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.

Annie worked for ASCS Farm Service Agency, retiring in 1997 after 42 years of service. She also owned “I Love Country” arts and crafts business for many years.

She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. She taught Sunday School for over 40 years, began the Junior Lutherans Program and was active in Ladies Circle. She also was involved with: Cattle Women; Prairie Hill, Cedar Hill, Rocky Hill Fire Department Auxiliary; American Legion Auxiliary. Annie loved family celebrations, sewing, canning, baking coffee cakes, playing cards with friends and dancing with her husband.

Survivors include: her children, Shirlynn Buck, Charles Gaskamp and wife Rita, Merri Sue Kluck and husband Michael and Fred Otto Gaskamp and wife Rosemary; grandchildren, Rustin Buck, Randall Buck and wife Kim, Ryan Buck and wife Brandy, Stephanie Follis and husband Scott, Brandon Kluck, Jackie, Ginger, and Taylor Gaskamp, Dana Gaskamp, Derek Gaskamp and fiancé Hailey Batterton; great grandchildren, Jennifer Theriot, Makayla, Cameron, Brynley and Blayde Buck; great great grandson, Michael Theriot; step great grandchildren, Lauren and Brandon Benoit, Clinton Follis and Kahla, Justin Follis and Harlie; step great great grandchildren, Carsen and Alexis Follis, Jaylynn Benoit, Ross Follis and Raelyn Follis; brother-in-law and sister-in- law, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp; sisters-in-law, Pearl Gaskamp and Florence Gaskamp; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband of 45 years, Walter; young brother, Fred; sister and brother-in-law, Nelda and Alfred Gaskamp; brothers-in-laws and sisters-in-law, Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, , Melvin Gaskamp, Raymond and Ann Gaskamp, Otto Gaskamp Jr., Monroe and Lillian Gaskamp, Louise Gaskamp, Jim and Thekla Lueckemeyer, Herbert and Meta Mutscher,.

The family would like to thank Kruse Village and Brazos Valley Hospice for the special care provided.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephew Roger Gaskamp. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
