Obituary

Arnold Dean Chambers, 81, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, October 21, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. He was dearly loved by all and never met a stranger. Arnold will be remembered most for his big heart, perseverance, and his spirit of optimism. A memorial service to celebrate Arnold’s life will be held Monday, October 27, 2014 at 10:00 am at Brenham Bible Church.

Arnold was born at home in Dry Knob, Missouri on December 22, 1932, and was the son of Tilman Edgar Chambers and Lorna Geneva Cole Chambers. As a young man, he enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 3, 1951 and served until June 16, 1953. Arnold served in the 24th infantry division in the Korean War, and was wounded in combat.

On May 7, 1960, Arnold married Jane Pearson Rice of Elgin, Illinois. Earlier in life, he spent years as a construction contractor as well as a horse trainer. Arnold enjoyed fishing, cooking, and watching Westerns. He regularly attended church at Brenham Bible Church, and was well known for passing out candy to the children on Sunday morning. Arnold found joy in giving gifts to others and brought encouragement to many in this way. He loved spending time with his family and was affectionately known to his grandchildren as “Pa.”

Surviving family includes: wife, Jane Chambers; daughters, Linda Moran, Geneva Perkins, Deborah Chambers, and Christine Wilson; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
