B.A. (Bill) Buchalla

B.A. “Bill” Buchalla, 78, of Brenham entered eternal rest Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at College Station Medical Center.

Bill was born October 19, 1931 to parents William and Vercie Gregory Buchalla in Graham, Texas, where he also attended school. On June 17, 1950, he married Doris Bruton in Archer City, Texas. He was a member of the Abilene Masonic Lodge #559 in Abilene, Texas, and was of the Baptist faith.

Bill and wife Doris, his life partner of 59 years, began their first business, Security Tank Co. in Abilene, Texas, in 1959. In 1967, Bill moved his family to Brenham where more business ventures developed, leading to the establishment of Pride Leasing Co. where he remained active until his death.

As well as his love for his family, especially the presence of his grand and great-grandchildren, Bill early on established a long standing tradition of celebrating the Christmas season by supervising the decorating of the family lawn. It was his wish that this tradition bring as much enjoyment to others as it did to him and his family.

His mother and father, brother Richard Buchalla, sister Eunice Smith, daughter-in-law Kathy Buchalla, mother-in-law and father-in-law Myrtle and D.J. Bruton along with several brothers-in-law preceded Bill in death.

Survivors include his loving family: wife Doris Buchalla of Brenham; sons and daughters-in-law Darrell and Paula Buchalla of Driftwood, TX, Gary Dean and Penny Buchalla of Somerville; daughters and son-in-law Dianne and Duke Dismukes of Brenham, Delores Morgan of Elgin; grandchildren Randi and husband Bo Baade of Brenham, Judd and wife Heather Morgan of Waco, Marci Dismukes-Carter of Brenham, Jana and husband Bradley Moffett of Elgin, Katie and husband Jerome Holmes of Bean Station, TN, and Tracy Pratt of Kingsport, TN; great-grandchildren Josh Holmes, Cade Baade, McKenzie Holmes, Aurora Morgan, Cason Duke Carter and the coming anticipation of two additional great-grandchildren; sister Mildred Reed of Georgetown; sister-in-law Billie Sue Buchalla of Abilene; brother-in-law Kenneth and wife Bertie Bruton of Olney, Gar Bruton of Charlotte, NC; sisters-in-law Margie Higgins of Post, Jenny Bruton of Royce City along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009 in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor Vicki Averitt, officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Hugo Hines, Terry Reed, Roland Reynolds, Chester Reuther, Paul Smith and Harold Tappe, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Bentke, Ben Fletcher, Numa Handy, Mark Hanna, Lonnie Landgraf, Mark Schulte, Harold Schwartz, Otto Wehring, Donnie Witte and all former employees.
