Obituary

Barbara Rabun Williams, 81, was called to her Lord Saturday, May 2, 2015 at her daughter, Deborah Finke’s residence in Brenham surrounded by her loving family.

Wife of David J. Williams of Navasota, mother of 4, matriarch of 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, nurse, entrepreneur and loving devoted worshipper of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Barbara had a long and wonderful life which began in 1952, after meeting the love of her life, David, while out with friends. The first meeting was magic and she knew in her heart David would be her soulmate. Together they faced good times, hardships and enjoyed raising their four wonderful children Deborah, Barbara Ann, David and Rabun. Determination to better her and David’s life guided Barbara and she enrolled in the first Licensed Vocational Nursing class at Blinn College in Brenham in 1961. Upon graduation she worked as a floor nurse and later as an operating room nurse at the Grimes Memorial Hospital of Navasota. In 1970, she opened Happy Day Nursery and for the next fifteen years enjoyed caring for many of Navasota and surrounding area’s children. Barbara fulfilled her most important dream in 1981 when she accepted Jesus into her heart and became a member of the Faith Outreach Church of Navasota, directed by Pastor Henry Sanders and his wife Naomi Sanders. Barbara and David became shining examples to their Lord and members of the church and greater community for the remainder of their lives.
