Obituary

Betty W. Paynter, 94, of Brenham, Texas and Arlington, Virginia, passed away on September 22, 2017.

Betty Clarice Wilkins was born on April 2, 1923 to Robert and Nellie (Tillery) Wilkins, of Comanche County Oklahoma.

On December 3, 1944, Betty was married to Harry Alvin Paynter and together they led a life of adventure and service to their country. Betty and Harry raised four children together and enjoyed 66 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2011.

Betty was a kind and gracious person with the gift of making each person feel special. She was an accomplished artist and particularly enjoyed painting in the Chinese manner. She and Harry enjoyed boating and sharing their fun on board Mandalay with others.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, Bob, Barbara, Larry and Dick, and her dear husband Harry A. Paynter Sr., Colonel, U.S.A.F., retired.

Betty’s survivors include her four children, Harry, Jr. (Hank), Steven, Barbara and Susan, her seven grandchildren, Joshua, David, Christopher, Laura, Elizabeth, Joseph and Steven, and nine great-grandchildren, Enzo, Nico, Clio, Jaxon, Maks, Barbara, Ella, Emalene, and Josephine.

The family would like to give special thanks to the kind and loving staff of LaRoche Manor and Kruse Village for the exceptional care provided to their mother.

A memorial service and interment will take place at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.
