Obituary

Billie Burnett, 78, passed away Friday, October 28, 2016, at her home in Washington, Texas.

Billie was born on August 29, 1938 in Elkhart, Texas, to parents Joe and Bonnie (Herod) Neel. She was a graduate of Brazosport High School. At a soda shop in Galena Park, Texas, she met Tommy Lee Burnett and on January 26, 1957, they were married in Freeport, Texas. Her life’s joy was caring for her husband and family. In 1990, she and Tommy moved to “the farm” in Washington, Texas. Billie was known for her love of cooking, serving others, sewing and her farm duties alongside Tommy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Navasota, Texas and loved the time she spent with her Sunday school class and her prayer group.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son-in-law, Dave Collins.

Survivors include: daughters, Julie Payne and husband Marty, Patti Collins, Sally Shoemaker and husband Charles, all of Pasadena; grandchildren, Jeremiah Payne, Rachael Payne, Ben and Jordan Payne, Sam Payne, Jodi and Jason Votion, Jason and Katy Butler, Rachel and Josh Dietert, Michael Shoemaker, John Shoemaker, Rebecca Shoemaker, Emily Shoemaker; great-grandchildren, Rylen and Baylee Votion, Kaegan and Jensen Butler, Audrey Joy Payne; sister, Martha Sanders and husband Charlie; brothers-in-law, Freddy and Georgene Burnett, Gary and Judy Burnett; numerous nephews and nieces who loved her very much; and pet companion, Rebel Dog.

Visitation will be Tuesday, November 1st, from 6-8 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2nd , at 10 a.m. in First Baptist Church Navasota with Bro.Clyde Larrabee, Dr. J. Denny Autrey, Bro. Charles Gibson and Bro. Ed Ethridge officiating. Interment will follow in Guiceland Cemetery, Grapeland, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Memorials are requested to First Baptist Church Navasota.
