The rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 14th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. James “Jim” Deaconson as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

For those who wish to pay their respects, Bonnie will lie in state at Brenham Memorial Chapel beginning the morning of Thursday, October 13th.

Bonnie was born August 20, 1943 in Hempstead, Texas to parents Arthur and Minnie (Horn) Young. She grew up in the Hempstead and Navasota areas. On December 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Clarence “Tex” Benkoski in Washington County. She was employed by Maddox Furniture, Brentex Mills and Sealy Mattress. In 1982, Bonnie and Tex established Tex’s Bar-B-Que and Catering. The restaurant was well known for the delicious open pit barbeque. She loved their business and serving the public. She was especially proud to have served President George Bush, then governor. Bonnie greeted everyone and made many dear friends. The restaurant closed in 2012. This allowed her time to enjoy casino trips and clothes shopping. She truly enjoyed her stay at Argent Court.

Her loving family includes: daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Rodney Hanath, Bernadette and J.P. Hancock, Beth and Mike Minavi; grandchildren Krystal and Cherise Wellmann, Nicholaus and Mallory Hanath, Aurbrey and Blake Eickenhorst, Chelsea Minavi, Casey Minavi; great-grandson Theodore and a great-granddaughter due in November; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and James Young, Patsy and Gary Parkey and nephews. Many loving employees and friends of Tex’s Bar-B-Que also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and in-laws, Martha and Joe Benkoski.

The Benkoski family wishes to extend special thanks to Argent Court, Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hospice Brazos Valley and Dr. Marek for care provided to their mother.

Pallbearers will be Gary Parkey, Jim Brown, David Stegent, Bill Vasicek, Nicholaus Hanath and Blake Eickenhorst.

Memorials are requested to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
