Obituary

Carol Mohr Schroeder, 80, died on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at her home in Brenham. She was surrounded by her family and passed away peacefully into the arms of her Savior.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 3, 2016 at Brenham’s First Baptist Church with Pastor Jack Meeker of The Cowboy Church officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday, June 2, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Carol Mohr Schroeder was born in Old Washington on September 3, 1935 to Lonnie and Minnie (Bosse) Mohr. She was baptized September 29, 1935 at Friedens Church in Old Washington and later confirmed there on April 10, 1949.

Carol attended and graduated from Brenham High School in 1953. During high school, she was involved in the Pep Squad, FHA and during her senior year was elected Football Sweetheart. She went on to pursue her Associates Degree in Business from Blinn College and graduated in 1955. Shortly thereafter, Carol met the love of her life, married Walter Schroeder Jr. on November 24, 1957 and enjoyed 57 years together. Their union produced two children, Sherrie and Scott. Carol spent those early years focusing on family and caring for their children. She loved the time spent with her very large extended family as they regularly gathered to celebrate major occasions.

In 1977, Carol began her working career. Many would remember her face from the many years spent working at Waldies Pharmacy located at the Brenham Clinic. Carol loved working and was there until she retired.

Carol loved her family and absolutely adored her baby sister, Elaine Warmke. She always reminded Elaine that she was the boss, but in reality Elaine was not just a little sister, she was a best friend. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren and the time that she got to spend with each of them during their many activities. In recent years, she and Walter became members of The Cowboy Church of Brenham. She spoke often of her Cowboy Church family and during her time there we watched as her faith continued to grow and grow. Carol fought a courageous battle against cancer. From the beginning until the very end she prayed for faith, peace and calm. God answered those prayers throughout and as she fearlessly faced death knowing that her Jesus was waiting.

Survivors include: husband Walter Schroeder, Jr. daughter and son-in-law Sherrie and Keith Foerster; son and daughter-in-law Scott and Tricia Schroeder; sister and brother-in-law Elaine and Terrance Warmke; grandchildren Dillon Foerster and special friend Shelby McCullough and daughter Layton; Jordan Foerster; Makenna, Hayden, and Evan Schroeder, all of Brenham; nephew Lance Warmke and his wife Amy; niece Kim Wellmann and her husband David; great nephews Cade Warmke, Blake Wellmann, Matthew Wellmann and his wife, Julia; and great niece Reese Warmke, all of Brenham, as well as numerous cousins.
