Obituary

At 12:33 p.m. on January 16, 2017, surrounded by his family at home, Charles Andrew Knott found peace after a long struggle with Lewy Body Dementia.

A celebration of life service will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 28th, followed by a reception at the Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Charlie served in the U.S. Navy prior to joining the Houston Fire Department on January 2, 1963. He retired in 2006 as Senior Captain with over 40 years of service to the city. He was a dedicated union member and advocate for the rights of fellow firefighters in IAFF Local 341.

Born on February 19, 1939 in Geneva, Ohio to Charles and Olive Knott, the family relocated to Texas when Charlie was six. In 1956, he met his future wife, Joyce. They spent over 60 years building a life and family together.

He is preceded in death by his parents and numerous family pets.

He is survived by: wife, Joyce Knott; daughters, Joanie Bell and husband Andy and Julianne Knott; grandchildren, Christina Beeler and husband Ryan, Meghan Bell and fiancé Josh Monaghan, Miles and Luke Robison; sister, Karen Fehmer and husband Bill; many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregg Workman and Dr. Bryan Spann for their years of compassionate care, and Hospice Brazos Valley for their assistance during his final four days.
