Obituary

Charlotte Haddick, 95, of Brenham, passed away at her home April 9, 2015. Viewing will begin Wednesday, April 15. Visitation with the Haddick family will be Thursday, April 16, from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Rev. David Beckworth will officiate.

Charlotte was born in Waxahachie, Texas, to J.T. and Lena Summerhill. She attended North Texas Agricultural College, then graduated from Baylor University in 1940 with a degree in business. During World War II, she was a civilian intelligence worker in the Army Air Corps, Wright Field, Dayton, Ohio. In 1948, she married Jack Haddick. During the Korean War, when she and Jack were in Germany with the Army, she provided humanitarian aid to German families who were struggling to recover from WWII. Charlotte also worked at the Defense Research Laboratory at The University of Texas at Austin; in administration at the University of Houston; and as a business manager in real estate. In her spare time, she was a member of the University of Houston Women’s Association and the League of Women Voters and was a Bible study leader and prayer partner with many inside and outside her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack; sister, Margaret Edwards; brothers, Jay and Winston Summerhill; daughter-in-law, Diana Haddick; and granddaughter-in-law, Rebekah Haddick.

Surviving loving family includes sons Allen Haddick of Sealy and Charles Haddick and wife, Kathleen Haddick, of Bryan; grandchildren Paul Haddick, Sarah Haddick-Lugo and husband, Steve Lugo, Joshua Haddick and wife, Yuki Haddick, Thomas Haddick, and Claire Haddick; great-grandchildren, Deborah, Eden, Elise, and Lola Haddick; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
