Obituary

Clayton D. Lichti, Jr., 81, died on June 20, 2017 in his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm with Rosary at 7 pm, Friday, June 23 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service will be at 10 am, Saturday, June 24 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Rev. Darren Donaldson will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

He was born on April 10, 1936 to Cletus and Marion (Miller) Lichti in Pavilion, New York. He married Jean Nancy Bellucci on January 28, 1956 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Batavia, New York. They were inseparable until her death on July 28, 1998.

In 1972, he moved his family to Brenham from Batavia, New York seeking a better life for all of them, and he found it.

Clayton was a long distance truck driver most of the years of his life. He tried other professions, but his heart belonged to the road. His favorite hobby was trucks. He loved driving trucks, fixing trucks, and owning trucks. He could tell you how to get anywhere in the continental USA and Canada. He could also repair almost anything, from a diesel engine to a tire. He was very mechanically minded.

His first love was his family and spending time with them. He always had a vacation on his agenda, with a camping trailer in tow. And so, they were all able to see the sights of the USA.

He deeply loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed weekly Sunday lunches with his family, and all the holiday gatherings.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Bobby Sherman Lichti and Mel Lichti; his young daughter, Kelly Jean Lichti; and his son, Robert (Bob) Lichti.

He will be sadly missed, but kept in the hearts of: his daughters, Lynnette Lichti Hodde and husband James, Colleen Lichti Joswiak and husband Patrick; son, David P. Lichti and fiancé Rhonda Faist Maass; grandsons, Robert (Bobby) Lichti and fiancé Virginia Kapchinski, Scott Joswiak and wife Christina, and Colton Maass; granddaughters, Renee’ Joswiak Narro and husband Luis, Stephanie Maass Schulz and husband Cody, Melissa Maass Bilski and husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Haley Lichti, Clayton E. Lichti, Hadley Schulz, Summer Narro, Layne Bilski, Lilah Joswiak, and Sophie Joswiak. He is also survived by several special nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great nephews, sister-in-law Ruth Lichti, and very special family friend Janet Wolf Bodish.

The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice Brazos Valley, and especially RNs Chantel and Truby for their concern, guidance, and medical attention.

Pallbearers will be Hugo “Babe” Wassermann, Bob Valden, David Valden, Robert Kiecke, Paul Crane and Don Thompson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Robbins, David Lange, Mike Gessner and Jack Schramm.
