Obituary

Funeral services for Darleen Ynette Fuchs Fischer, 87, the widow of Elwood H. Fischer, will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Jacobs and Rev. William Holzer officiating. Burial will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 3, 2017 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Darleen passed away March 31, 2017 at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born November 16, 1929 in the La Bahia Community, Burton, Texas, the daughter of Charles L. Fuchs and Louise Krause Fuchs. She was baptized February 23, 1930 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church Greenvine, Texas and confirmed April 18, 1943 at Martin Lutheran Church, Carmine, Texas.

Darleen attended Boundary public school and was a 1947 graduate of Burton High School.

On July 23, 1950, she married Elwood H. Fischer in Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Greenvine, Texas. Darleen and Elwood were blessed with a daughter, Sandra Fischer Addicks and a son, Russell Fischer.

Darleen was a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church and Grace Lutheran Afternoon LWML. She was faithful in visiting church members and friends that were homebound or in nursing homes. Her parents instilled in her the importance of serving the Lord in whatever way was needed.

Darleen was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. She enjoyed visiting and preparing special meals for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Before Elwood’s death, they enjoyed dancing, traveling, and playing cards. After Elwood’s death, she continued to play cards and dominos, and shop with friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

After her children started school, she worked at H.W. Arp Jewelry and then at J.C. Penney’s.

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood on November 22, 1990; parents, Charles and Louise Krause Fuchs; brother and sister-in-law, Leander and Olivia Fuchs; sister and brother-in-law, LaVerne and Fred Eickenhorst; niece, Joann Eickenhorst; and special cousin Rosa Lee Fuchs.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Delphine Addicks of Brenham; son and daughter-in-law, Russell and Terri Fischer of Clear Lake; grandchildren, Troy and Brianne Addicks of Cypress, Sara and Shawn Everly of Cypress, Jill and Jerrod Sanders of Tumwater, Washington, Jeff and Jenice Schoolcraft of League City. Great-grandchildren are Aiden and Ethan Addicks, Mason and Cameron Everly, Carson and Claire Sanders, Kaiden Schoolcraft and Avery Mayes. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Her grandsons, Troy Addicks, Shawn Everly, Jerrod Sanders and Jeff Schoolcraft; nephews, Bruce Fox, Kenneth Urbanovsky, Nathan Eickenhorst, and Charles Eickenhorst will serve as pallbearers. Her Godsons, Ronnie Tiemann, Darrell Boenker, and Dean Haight will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Her family truly appreciates the love and kindness shown to her by caregivers and staff at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation and for the special care given by Hospice Brazos Valley.
