Obituary

Dolores J. Oberrender passed away on October 29, 2015 at her daughter Karen’s home in College Station, Texas at the age of 83.

Dolores was born on November 6, 1931 to Robert and Onita (Hillmer) Klar in Brenham, Texas. She was baptized on March 26, 1933 and confirmed April 14, 1946 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Brenham. She was educated in Brenham Schools and graduated in 1950. Dolores married Gotthold Benhard (G.B.) Oberrender on February 28, 1960 in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome. G.B. and Dolores celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 28, 2010 prior to G. B.’s death in November of that year.

Dolores is survived by: four children and spouses, David and wife Carol of Georgetown, Karen Miller and husband Richard of College Station, Carl and wife Laura of Temple, and Ernest and wife Julie of Brenham; grandchildren, Michael and wife Morgan Oberrender of Dallas, Jacob, and Lauren Oberrender of Georgetown; Mason Miller and girlfriend Rika Williams of Port Lavaca; Claira, Emily, Anna, and Robert Tang Oberrender of Temple; Krystal Oberrender and fiancé Chris Sodolak of Sealy; Sarah and husband Trevor Zwahr, Allan and Jonathan Oberrender, Ryan Goerlitz and girlfriend Hanna Hendrickson and Jamie Goerlitz all of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Chloe and T.J. Zwahr of Brenham; niece Kathy Holtkamp; nephew Charles Holtkamp and wife Mary of Brenham; two great-nieces and two great-nephews, along with numerous cousins, friends and special grand-pups Winnie, Tigger and Pebbles.

Dolores was preceded in death by her husband G. B., her parents Robert and Onita Klar, parents-in-law Ernst and Clara Oberrender, sister-in-law Leona and her husband Robert Holtkamp.

Dolores was raised in the city, but adapted well to country life after marrying G. B. Together they raised four kids with Dolores being a stay at home mom and housewife. One of her proudest accomplishments in her life was earning the title of “MoMo”. She enjoyed making brownies and cookies for the grandkids. She was an active member of Welcome Lutheran Church where she was involved with Women of the Church and making quilts for Lutheran World Relief.

A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

The funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at Welcome Lutheran Church of Welcome with Pastor John Sutton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael, Jacob, Allan, and Jonathan Oberrender, Mason Miller, Ryan Goerlitz, Trevor Zwahr, and Chris Sodolak. Honorary pallbearers will be remaining grandchildren, great-grandchildren and Charles Mikeska.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to all friends, family and caregivers who helped through her illness. Special thanks to the staff of St. Joseph Cancer Center in Bryan, Texas. The family requests that memorials be directed to the Welcome Lutheran Church Building Fund or Hospice Brazos Valley.
