Obituary

Dorothy (Dot) Marie Sklar of Brenham died June 29, 2014 in Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation with family and friends will be Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM with the Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Brenham Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Industry Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Sklar was born on December 10, 1932 in Big Spring TX to Clee and Cleo Donnelly Hagan.

On August 21, 1952, she married John Frank Sklar in Abilene TX. They were blessed with two sons Randell Lee and Richard Allan. Mrs. Sklar took great pride in caring for her family and their home.

Survivors include son Randy and wife Mary; granddaughter Alexis; granddaughter Leann and husband Matt; and great-grandson Ayden. Also surviving are special family members Ray Steinfeld, Janice Steinfeld, and Judy Kay Schutz and family; sisters Ann Smith and Hazel Zak; sisters-in-law Wanda Hagan and Olivia Lane; and numerous other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and parents-in-law Joe and Hermina Pilcik Sklar; husband John; son Ricky; brother Leon, sister Wanda; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law O. M. Lindsey, Harold Smith, Ray Zak, Syl Sklar, Louis Dehmer, Don Lane, Ida and Joe Sklar, and Mary and Cuba Burleson.

Pallbearers will be David Dreyer, Trace Fricke, Edgar Fricke, Matt Huston, Timmy Krueger, and Ray Allen Steinfeld. Honorary pallbearer will be Dr. Eric Alford.

We will greatly miss our Mom and Memaw but have so many memories that we will treasure. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a heart of gold, and she loved to talk. Also, her love for her family and friends and her pride in cooking and baking that was enjoyed by many.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, 302 E Blue Bell Rd, Brenham TX 77833.

The Sklar family would like to express a very special Thank You to Dr. Eric Alford and to the nursing staff of Texas Home Health, Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and Hospice Brazos Valley for their professional service, care, and compassion.
