Obituary


Dorothy (Rosner) Calaway, 84, of Brenham and the wife of Arthur Calaway, passed away Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at her residence surrounded by her loving husband of 66 years and family. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 22 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Jayaraju “Jay” Polisetty and Monsignor Benedict Zientek as Celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Washington County on March 9, 1930 to Mary (Urbaniak) and John Rosner and attended Washington County schools. On November 20, 1948 she was united in marriage to Arthur Calaway. She was a devoted member and participant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, PCCW, volunteer for funeral luncheons, and a volunteer for The Polish Heritage Festival. Dorothy was an adorer on Mondays at 10:00 a.m. with her husband for fifteen years. She was a dedicated wife, godmother, sister and friend.

Survivors include: Arthur E. Calaway, husband of 66 years; sisters-in-law Gladys Roberts, Pearlie Rosner, Flora Ann Calaway; brother-in-law Steve Wesneski; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great-great nieces, great-great nephews and five godchildren Leon Konieczny, Gary Gaetz, Lisa Rosner, Tracy Mikolajchak and Shirley Atwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Mary Rosner; sisters Leona Konieczny (Ike), Martha Jozwiak (Theodore), Eva Gaetz (Mike), Mary Elizabeth Wesneski; brother Joseph Rosner; brothers-in-law Calvin Calaway and Richard Roberts.

Pallbearers are Greg Rosner, Gary Gaetz, Ronnie Gaetz, Eugene Gaetz, Donnie Wesneski, Steven Ray Wesneski. Honorary pallbearers are Leon Konieczny and George Konieczny.
