Obituary

EddieLow Lohmeyer Kiel, 86, of Washington passed away Thursday, July 2, 2015 at her home with family by her side.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 7 at 2 pm at Friedens Church of Washington with Pastor Greg Felder officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

EddieLow Henriette Lohmeyer was born on May 28, 1929 in Washington, Texas, the daughter of Willie and Esther Buck Lohmeyer. She was baptized on Aug. 4, 1929 at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church in Washington, by the Rev. Alvin Blome. She was confirmed April 18, 1943 at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church in Washington, by the Rev. Paul Piepenbrock.

EddieLow attended Washington public schools before attending high school in Brenham. She stayed in Brenham during the week to attend high school and caught a ride back to Washington with her uncle on the weekends. She graduated from Brenham High School in 1948.

After being introduced by a mutual friend, EddieLow began corresponding with Emil Kiel when he was in the military. They were united in marriage on May 28, 1950 at Friedens Evangelical & Reformed Church in Washington by the Rev. Paul Piepenbrock.
EddieLow was a housewife and helped her husband on the farm. Together they raised chickens, hogs, cattle, as well as growing crops for the animals, and a garden for the family.

She was committed to her husband, Emil, for over 59 years until his death. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandsons. She loved their visits, and appreciated their help in the garden and on the farm. The family looked forward to her cooking, especially her baked pies. Other pastimes included gardening, canning, sewing, and working puzzle books.

She was preceded in death by: her husband, Emil; her parents, Willie and Esther Lohmeyer; her brother, Leslie Lohmeyer; parents-in-law, August and Christina Kiel; brothers-in-law, Melvin Keil, Elvin Kiel, Leedel Kiel, and Johnnie Stefka.

She is survived by: her daughters, Barbara Humphreys and husband Terry of Washington, LaBeth Snyder and husband Robert of Katy, and Sue Schwartz and husband Dale of Burton; grandsons, Kielan Snyder of Denver, Colorado, and Allen Schwartz of Burton; sister-in-law, Shirley Stefka of Caldwell; brother-in-law, Glenn Kiel and wife Pat of College Station; and sister-in-law, Margie Keil of Waco; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Kielan Snyder, Allen Schwartz, Edward Fred Kolkhorst, Harry Kolkhorst, Jimmie Hensley, Don Wellmann, John Stefka, Mark Stefka. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Boenker and Charles Buck.

Memorials may be given to Friedens Church of Washington.
