Elizabeth Beatrice (Uhyrek) Beckermann

Elizabeth Beatrice Beckermann, 98 of Brenham, passed away November 19, 2016 in Yakima, Washington.

Visitation with the family will be Saturday, December 3rd from 12 noon until funeral service begins at 2 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Deacon Al Prescott officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born April 14, 1918 in Wallis, Texas to Joseph and Cecelia (Gallia) Uhyrek. She was baptized in Guardian Angel Church in Wallis and attended Central School in the Krasna Community, Wallis. On June 10, 1944, she married Fred Beckermann in Little Rock, Arkansas.

During WWII, she worked as a machinist for Texas Tool & Die in Houston. From 1964-1970, she was a foreman in the silk screen division of McGraw Colorgraph of Los Angeles, California. As a homemaker, she gardened, cooking and canning the vegetables. She was a seamstress, cattle rancher and enjoyed traveling. Elizabeth was involved with the German Club, Czech Heritage Society and American Legion Buddy Wright Post #48 where recognized as a gold star mother. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by: parents; husband, Fred Beckermann July 20, 2007; son, Fred “Bubba” Beckermann, Jr. July 3, 1966; brothers and sister-in-law, Charlie and Mary Uhyrek, Dennis Uhyrek; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cecelia and Jimmy Taurello, Eli Gorka, Rita and Howard Trahan.

Surviving family includes: sons, Donald “Doc” Beckermann and wife Liz of La Crescenta, California, Henry “Hank” Beckermann of Brenham; daughter, JoAnn “Sissy” Yates of Yakima, Washington; grandchildren, Donald “Tiger” and Marie Beckermann, Toby and Jennifer Beckermann, Tiffany and Shawn Galendez, Wayne Beckermann, Alyssa Beckermann, Jessica Kiel; great-grandchildren, Rhett, Julia, John Tyler, Lilli, Alex, Ariel; sister, Irene Gorka of Houston; brother and sisters-in-law, Benjamin and Mary Lou Uhyrek of Wallis, Frankie Uhyrek of Houston.

Pallbearers will be: Joseph Uhyrek, Joey Taurello, Patrick Koronka, Jodie Naumann, Darin Beckermann and Wayne Beckermann.
