Elizabeth Libby (Gordnier) Bernshausen

Elizabeth “Libby” Bernshausen entered eternal peace with the Lord on March 14, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Paul Cruz officiating. Burial will be at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, March 17, at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Born February 18, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Libby moved to San Antonio in her youth. She later met the love of her life, Rogers Bernshausen, who was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base. They married on August 30, 1957.

Libby was a stay-at-home mom, babysat children in her home and served as a church nursery attendant until she began working at Bohne Hospital (later Trinity Medical Center). She retired around 2009 after approximately 30 years of service. After retirement, she volunteered with the Awana Club at Cornerstone Christian Center.

Libby is survived by her sons and grandchildren: son Rogers Bernshausen, Jr. of Corpus Christi; son Bobby Bernshausen and his wife, Angela, and their children Amber, Lauren and Wesley, all of College Station. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Allen of San Antonio.

Libby was preceded in death by her husband, Rogers Bernshausen, Sr.; parents, Gilbert and Mary Gordnier; sister Lucille Ruth; mother-in-law Ada Kasprowicz; sister-in-law Arjean Woods; and brother-in-law William Bernshausen.

Pallbearers are Tom Allen, Scott Boll, Duane Grabarschick, William Gutierrez, Ervin Lee Schulz and Tony Wright.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Hospice Brazos Valley, American Cancer Society, or Camp Blessing Texas.
