Elizabeth R. Slayton

Elizabeth R. Slayton, age 104, of Brenham, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in
St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

Leona Elizabeth Slayton was born in Brownsville, Texas, to Newell and Leona (Harrymann) Rayel on August 6,1912.

On October 18, 1945, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Charles Slayton in Raymondville, Texas. In 1958, she received a Master’s Degree in Education from Texas A&M University – Kingsville. She was an elementary school teacher for 27 years, and an honorary member of Delta Kappa Gamma, a fraternity for female educators. Elizabeth was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Brenham and Order of the Eastern Star.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by: parents, husband, four brothers and two sisters.

Elizabeth is survived by: nieces and nephews, Jim and Wilma Conway, Sam and Susan Mize, Jamie and Scott Hargrave, James “Bo” and Angela Conway; loving friends Rebecca and Lewis Marshall, Alton McCurry, Nancy Leaton, Cherry Daugbjerg, Linda Warburton, and all friends of Bill W.

Memorials may be given in Elizabeth’s memory to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church of Brenham.
