Obituary

Ernest Noah Albers was called home by his Heavenly Father on August 3, 2016.

Visitation will be at Brenham Memorial Chapel, Friday, August 5, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, August 6 at 2 p.m. with interment following at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

He was born July 13, 1922, in Dime Box, Texas. After graduating from high school, he attended Blinn College in Brenham, Texas, where he met his future wife Lillian. With the onset of World War II, Ernie joined the Army, serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of the 39th fighter squadron and served 3 years, 3 months and 3 days. After the war, Ernest went to complete his degree at the University of Texas. He graduated in 1947 and moved to Corpus Christi. One year later, he was joined by Lillian after their marriage on June 21, 1948. They remained there for 56 years.

Ernest’s first job in Corpus was working for Sears and Roebuck; after that he had several jobs before landing in his final place of employment, Rainbo Bakery. He began work there in 1954 and retired after 32 years on the job.

Ernie was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Corpus Christi, where he served in multiple capacities. When he and Lillian moved to Brenham in 2004, he joined Grace Lutheran. He remained in Brenham and lived independently until a short time before his death.

Ernie and Lillian had 2 daughters, Marilyn and Betty. He was so proud of his daughters and their accomplishments and told everyone he knew about them. He was a true survivor and story teller and always had a great joke to tell. Even after multiple open heart surgeries, he continued to meet with all his buddies at Whataburger and share stories of the past and more importantly, stories of his family. Some of his greatest times in life were taking his grandchildren to the beach in Corpus, going crabbing and riding the ferry.

Ernie is survived by: his wife of 68 years, Lillian Eimann Albers; his two daughters, Dr. Marilyn Albers Kelinske and husband Darryl of Austin, and Dr. Betty Albers Browne and husband David of Bellaire, Texas; as well as his four grandchildren Darran Kelinske, Katie Kelinske Krause, Christine Kelinske and Garrett Browne; one great grandchild, Brynnlee Krause; and multiple nieces. The family wishes to thank the staff at Brookdale Spicewood Springs in Austin for all their care and support in Ernie’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Grace Lutheran Church or The Lutheran Hour.

Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham, TX 77833. 979.836.3611 Tributes may be shared at www.BrenhamMemorialChapel.com.
