Obituary

Estella “Stella” Kubitza, 86 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015.

Visitation will be from 5-7pm and Rosary recited at 7pm, Sunday, January 3, 2016 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday, January 4, 2016 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Msgr. Benedict Zientek, Msgr. Boleslaus “Bole” Zientek, Rev. David Leibham, Rev. Ernesto Elizondo, Deacon Steve Medina, Deacon Al Prescott and Deacon William Januszewski will be celebrants. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery

Stella was born March 22, 1929 in Burton to Joseph and Mary (Cendalski) Januszewski. She attended Greenvine and Mill Creek Schools. She married John R. Kubitza in November 1949. She was baptized, received First Holy Communion, confirmed and married at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brenham. Stella worked at the family’s Green Valley Café owned and operated by her brother-in-law Bruno Gorzycki and his brothers. Later, she completed the course at Josephine Hodge Beauty School in Houston. Stella was a beautician for over 45 years; 10 years with Elvera’s and for 35 years operating her own Stella’s Beauty Shop. Stella was very active at her church, St. Mary’s with over 50 years’ membership with Parish Council of Catholic Women and Clerical Endowment Fund Association, Secretary of Diocese Council of Catholic Women for 5 years during the 70’s, Secretary and Treasurer of Deanery Council of Catholic Women for many years, Sponsor for Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), Catholic Daughters and Volunteer Parish Secretary. Other memberships include KJZT, VFW and Burton American Legion.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mary Januszewski, husband John R. Kubitza, Jr.,In-Laws John R. and Mary Kubitza, brother and sister-in-law Stanley and Mary Januszewski, sister and brother-in-law Janie and Bruno Gorzycki and brother-in-law Johnnie Krenek.

Survivors include: brothers John Januszewski, William Januszewski, Raymond Januszewski all of Brenham; sister Monica Krenek of Wallis; nieces and nephews David Januszewski, James Januszewski, Judi McKenzie, Gina Draehn, Mark Januszewski, Cathy Newsome, Cindy Longhofer, Patricia Bartoskewitz, Eddie Krenek, Johnnie Krenek, Kevin Krenek, Lynda Mauney, Mona Norris, Susie Walters, Shannon Jacobs, Brandy Scott, Joseph Januszewski, Suzanne Hammer, Jaqueline Bulkley and Carol Ann Cangelosi.

Pallbearers will be her great nephews Ryan Dougherty, Scott Dougherty, Bradley Norris, Brooks Norris, Jeffrey Krenek, Matthew Krenek, Gregory Krenek and Keith Krenek. Honorary pallbearers will be Edward “Shorty” Kwiatkowski, Elton Anderson, Jr., Ben Bosse, William Wendler, Ben Hajovsky, Reinhardt Kramer and Paul Kessler.

Memorials may be given to St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Brenham.
