Eugene August (Gene) Eversberg, Jr.

Eugene August Eversberg, Jr., passed away on July 26, 2014 in Houston, TX. He was born in Brenham, Texas on September 3, 1922 and attended Alamo Elementary School in Brenham. He moved to Houston in 1932 and attended Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Lanier Junior High School and Lamar Senior High School where he graduated first class to go through all 3 grades of 1940 class, 9, 10, 11th with 571 graduates! He also attended Texas A & M. Eugene was a pilot in the Army Air Corps in WWII on B-17's and instructed in basic flying school in BT-13's. He graduated from University of Houston in 1948. A salesman by trade, Eugene was a manufacturers representative. He has been a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Arabia Shrine Temple Legion of Honor unit.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene August Eversberg, Sr. and Edna Buck Eversberg and sister, Connie Eversberg Ostner.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Wilkins Eversberg; son, Larry Eugene Eversberg and wife Linda; daughter, Marla Kay Gonzales and husband Danny; grandchildren, Jeff Eversberg and wife Fiona, Sandi Eversberg Kyle and husband David, Keith Eversberg, Nicole Eversberg, Billie Gonzales; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Eversberg, Zachary Eversberg, Logan Kyle, Lyla Kyle, Abby Eversberg, Isaiah Gonzales-Vela and Amara Zaragoza; niece, Diane Ostner Hudson and husband Billy; nephew, Chuck Ostner, Jr. and wife Patty and other family members and a host of friends.

Gene's family will gather on Thursday, July 31, 2014 for A Celebration of His Life at Hardin Family Funeral Home with a visitation beginning at 10 o'clock in the morning until service time at 11 o'clock. Rev. Jim McPhail will officiate the service.

Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, TX at 2 o'clock in the afternoon with Rev. Kay Reed officiating.
