Obituary

Frank Enders Groover, Jr., age 91, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 in Brenham, Texas after a brief illness.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in Brenham Memorial Chapel in Brenham, Texas. Graveside service will be 3:00 PM Wednesday in Mexia Cemetery in Mexia, Texas

Frank was born to Frank Enders Groover and Minnie Riddle Groover in Mexia, Texas on September 8, 1923.

Mr. Groover graduated from Mexia High School and from Texas A&M University, Class of ’45. He was a member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Band. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II in California and in the Philippines.

Mr. Groover married Cathrine Paulos on June 12, 1949 at First Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas. During their marriage, they lived in Dallas, Waco, and Temple, Texas where Mr. Groover retired from American Desk Manufacturing Company.

Mr. Groover is survived by his sister, Lauree Groover McDowell, of Texarkana, Texas and two sons, Mike Groover and wife, Yvette, of Wharton, Texas and Larry Groover and wife, Kathy, of Chappell Hill, Texas, grandchildren, Aubrey Groover of Houston, Texas, LT CMDR Shane Groover (USN) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, 1 LT Clayton Groover (USMC) and wife, Holly, of Okinawa, Japan, Sarah Beth Groover Popp and husband, Jake, of Wharton, Texas, and Cullen Groover of Wharton, Texas. He has three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Groover was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 57 years, Cathy. He was a member of the Rotary Club and First Baptist Church, Temple. He attended First Baptist Church, Brenham, while living in Brenham.
