Obituary

James C. Mondrofsky age 79 passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, August 3 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 4 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham with Father Ernesto Elizondo, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

J.C. was born in Austin County on October 8, 1934 to Herman and Mary (Baron) Mondrofsky. He was baptized in the Catholic faith at an early age at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Latium. J.C. was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. He was employed at Sears in Houston and then in Brenham at Brenham Heating and Air for more than 40+years. J.C. served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. On May 13, 1961 he was united in marriage to Gladys Peters. J.C. loved the outdoors. His passions were hunting, fishing and gardening. He was always proud to show off his wonderful gardens and share what he grew with family and friends. J.C. also took great joy in canning all the pickles he grew. In the past years, he always loved drinking coffee with all his friends at K&M Grocery.

He is survived by his loving family—wife of 53 years Gladys, three daughters Lisa Wellmann and fiancé Ron Kuecker, Lori Winkelmann and husband Darrell, LaDonna Knode and husband Rodney; seven grandchildren—Jessica Wellmann and fiancé Brandon Bozon, Jon-Erik Coonse, Kristen Winkelmann and special friend Henry Porter, Jillian Scanlin and husband Garrett, Jay Winkelmann and special friend Ashley Nichols, Jacob Knode, and Wyatt Wellmann and his special Yorkie, Gretchen. Also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Deloris Mikeska, Edna Petzolt, Doris Siptak, Annie Mae Buerger, Floreen Schulze, Carolyn and Antone Kubeczka, Elois and Johnnie Eickenhorst; brothers-in-law Leroy Klump and William Peters as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Madeline Klump, mother-in-law and father-in-law Albert and Annie Peters; brothers-in-law Eldon Mikeska Sr, C. H. Petzolt, Glenwood Buerger, Herbert Schulze, David Siptak, nephew Keith Eickenhorst and as well as his beloved Poodle Syd.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers will be Nelson Seilheimer, Bruce Fritz, Ken Watson, Butch Meier, Tommy Przyborski, Steven Murski, Mike Przyborski, R. B. Schawe and coffee drinkers at K&M.
