Jimmie Lee Mertins

Jimmie Lee Mertins, 66, passed away at his home in Bellville February 11, 2016.

Jimmie was born April 19, 1949, in Houston, Texas, to Ervin and Josephine (Lange) Mertins. He attended Brenham High School. Jimmie served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Schleider Furniture Company and Fischer Tile & Floor Covering in Brenham. On May 22, 1990, he married Bea Mertins in Las Vegas, Nevada. They enjoyed traveling. Jimmie was a talented carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, trips to Louisiana, parties with family and friends.

Jimmie is preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister Barbara Wright, and nephew Sean DeChant.

He is survived by: his sister, Gladys Lange and husband Rufus; brother-in-law, Cecil Wright and wife Lee Ann; nieces and nephew, Teresa Moudry and husband Mike, Jennifer DeChant, Jeremy Wright; numerous great nieces and nephews; and one great great niece.

A gathering for Jimmie’s family and friends will be Thursday, February 25, 2016 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.
