John Kruse

John Kruse, 87, of Brenham passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 in Scott and White Hospital-Brenham.

Mr. Kruse was born May 8, 1924 in Washington County to parents Fredrick Kruse and Minnie Klatte Kruse. He was baptized on October 29, 1924 and confirmed April 2, 1939 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Mr. Kruse remained a life-long member of St. John, and taught Sunday school there for many years. He attended Washington County Schools. On December 3, 1950, he was united in marriage to Bertha Sommerfeld at Salem Lutheran Church of Salem by Rev. Paul Gogolin. He was engaged in farming and was self-employed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michael S. Kruse and brother Fredrick Kruse.

Survivors are his loving wife Bertha Kruse and son John F. Kruse both of Brenham, along with numerous cousins.

Visitation will be at Brenham Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 1st from 4-6 pm.

Funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill on Monday, January 2, 2012 at 10 am with Rev. David Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Dwayne Rogge, Kenneth Priesmeyer, Tom Smith, Roger Sommerfeld, Herbert Klatte, Jr. and Don Holtkamp. Honorary pallbearers are Gilbert Gerke, Darrell Gummelt and Fred Henry Heidemann.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church or Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill VFD.
