Obituary

John Wayne Oaks passed away after a lengthy illness on May 16, 2016 at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brenham, Texas.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham, Texas. Family and friends will gather immediately following the service at St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Activity Center in Brenham, Texas.

Johnny was born in Ada, Oklahoma on March 3, 1937 and quickly moved to Odessa, Texas.

Johnny is survived by: his lifelong sweetheart and wife, Sandy Oaks; his daughter, Melinda and her husband E.R. Boldt; by his son, John Michael Oaks and wife Colleen; his grandchildren, Erin and husband Jamison Collins, Hunter Boldt, and Reagan Oaks; his three great grandchildren, Christian, Dylan, and Griffin Collins.

Johnny attended Odessa High School and Texas Tech University. He was a member of the United States Marine Corp Reserves from 1955 to 1963. Johnny was employed in technical sales in the industrial food industry and the oil and gas industry. He retired to Brenham in 2005. He and his wife Sandy became members of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Johnny was outgoing, courageous, and fun loving. He had a special affinity for horses and all things western. He loved politics and was very patriotic. But his greatest passion was his children and grandchildren.
