Larry Dean Huffman - Guestbook

Once in awhile, we meet certain people who are just good, decent people. Larry was one of those rare people who did not ask for much and gave alot. He was considerate of those around him and tolerated the ones who were not. I will greatly miss him as his character was as solid as a rock.

Teresa and boys: We were so shocked to find that Larry had passed away. He was one of those people that you always remember no matter how many years have passed since you have seen them. We often talk about all the fishing expeditions - nearly every day after work - and the fine catches he made. The boys were always along and if they got tired of fishing, which happened very seldom, they would go for a quick swim and begin all over again. They had a great role model in their father and I know they made him proud. He was a true friend to both of us and he was also a joy to work along side of. I wish there was something we could do but in situations like this there is not much anyone can do but be there for you if you need us. Please try to keep in touch - we are out of state now but our e-mail address is available so please contact us when things settle down. You have our thoughts, prayers and love.

Teresa and family,

Words cannot express the emptiness in your hearts and home with the passing of Larry. Just remember that he is out in the open spaces enjoying the peace and quiet as he often spoke of. Larry often spoke of his family, hunting, fishing and his travels, and the stories were very entertaining. I know he loved his family and friends dearly and would do anything for them, I don’t think he ever met a stranger. Although he is gone from this world he will forever be in your hearts!

Larry and I began employment one month apart in 1984. I have known him for many years, and was deeply saddened by today’s terrible news about his passing. I do know he was doing exactly what he loved to do, work on automobiles. Larry was hired into BSSLC motor pool to work along side Ed Neuman at the time, and he certainly could always be seen back there taking care of the vehicle fleet.

I remember his love of hunting and fishing and he providing numerous amounts of fish for our shop fish fry’s. Larry didn’t eat them, just loved to catch em’. Boy, he did have the reputation for catching fish, often times when no one else could. He knew Lake Somerville like the back of his hand, and always, always reeled them in.

I remember his, (I believe) 1967 Mustang Fastback that once his Mother drove. Man, I wanted that car! Larry wouldn’t sell it, because he wanted to pass it on to his son, which he did. His son wrecked it soon after, but Larry took it all in stride. If I could say one phrase that described Larry best from my perspective, it is just that, “he took it all in stride”. He was easy going, didn’t get riled up over much of anything, a calming presence and quiet wit about him. He was an intelligent man who gave great advices about a lot of things, usually though, only when asked. He was a great father who taught his children well, one of his sons becoming a what? A fishing guide at the lake for awhile, doing what his father taught him to love as well.

I am so thankful I was simply able to shake his hand last year again, to have seen him and spoke to him just like we have always done. Larry looked just like he did 25 years ago and still the same old Larry, such a good man.

Always a friend,

Byron Swor

How do we say goodbye to a boy who was such an intragal part of our life. Larry was the one person who was sincerely loved bye his entire family. There will be those that would say he wasn't a christian! I am his mother's twin sister so have allways been as close as any one could be to Larry and his family.Let me be here to tell you this man was the very enbodyment of christianity. His church was the wide open spaces. Did someone need help? Larry was willing and ready. He drove hours to help me. If I ever needed and LArry could get me help he would leave no stone unturned. He raised 2 men of the same caliber as he.Of course Teresa was there ,too. Together they were quite a force for triumph over the bad things life can throw. There is no words to tell what he has meant to us. Larry our darling, Rest in peace!!!

ONE WEEKEND A LONG TIME AGO MY BROTHER PAT, LARRY AND I WALKED THE RIVERS OF BOSQUE COUNTY AND VISITED LAKE MERIDIAN. FOR SOME REASON THE GIRLS WEREN'T WITH US. BUT LARRY DID NOT LEAVE ME OUT AS WE SEARCHED FOR DINOSAUR PRINTS. IT WAS A TIME THAT I REALIZED THAT I WAS SPECIAL TO LARRY AND HE WAS VERY SPECIAL TO ME. HE WAS MY COUSIN BUT HE WAS MOSTLY MY FREIND. HE GAVE MUCH MORE THAN HE RECIEVED AND WE WERE ALL BLESSED TO HAVE HIM IN OUR LIVES AND I BELEIVE THAT HE ALWAYS WILL BE, BECAUSE HE IS SO MUCH A PART OF ALL OF US. WE LOVED HIM AND WILL MISS HIM SO MUCH...
