Obituary
Lois A. Jeter was born October 3, 1921, in Barry County, Missouri, to Lawrence E. and Alma (Pyatt) Young. She moved to Enid, Oklahoma at age 6 with her parents. She attended the Enid Schools and received her diploma from the Christian Life Bible Institute in Bethany, Oklahoma. She lived in Enid all her life, except for a short time in Texas. She was married to Horace M. Jeter on January 15, 1938 in Enid, Oklahoma by her father-in-law John Jeter. She is a member of Central Assembly of Enid, Oklahoma.
She worked as a doctor’s assistant for several years and as a bookkeeper for over 35 years for their family business, Jeter Automotive. She taught music for a short time and was a church organist, wrote poetry and crocheted afghans for family, friends and nursing homes.
She died at her home Tuesday, December 24, 2003.
Survivors include her husband Horace M. Jeter of Chappell Hill, son and daughter-in-law, John L. Jeter and Carolyn of Austin, Texas; son Gary L. Jeter of Chappell Hill, Texas; two sisters, Cecil Scherffarus of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Pat Pate of Muskogee, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents,: one sister Jennie Hamen; two daughter-in-laws, Mary Ellen and Judy (J.J.); and one grandchild, Tracy Don Jeter.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church of Brenham on Friday, December 26th at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Gary L. Jeter officiating.
A funeral service will be held in Enid, Oklahoma on Sunday, December 28th at 2:00 PM at the Ladusau Evens Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Enid Cemetery.
