Obituary

Lydia Niemeyer Lange entered into rest on Monday, October 9, 2017.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Thursday, October 12, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, with Pastor Kyle Merkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Lydia was born September 27, 1924, in Kurten, Texas. She was baptized December 14, 1924, by Rev. Czerkus in Independence, Texas and confirmed May 26, 1940 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor Rudloff Becker. She attended school in Independence, Texas. Lydia married the love of her life, Edwin “Boots” Lange, on June 17, 1942. She was a loving homemaker and loved to care for her grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were playing pitch, bingo, and dominoes.

Lydia is survived by: sons, Donald Lee Lange and wife Carolyn, David Lange and wife Marilyn; grandchildren, Darrell Zwahr, Dean Zwahr and wife Reba, Shelly Draehn, Shannon Jezierski and husband Davin, Stacey Schaper and husband Steven, Robbie Lukeman and husband Jim, Troy Zwahr and wife Shannon, Scott Zwahr and wife Agnes, Dale Lange, Jennifer Brooks and husband Carl, Janet Gammon and husband Richard, Jeffry Lange and wife Louise, Dewayne Lange and wife Tennille, John Lange and wife Renee, Jason Lange and special friend Kelly Hord; 25 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren and two on the way; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: her husband of 59 years, Edwin Lange; infant daughter, Gladys Joyce Lange; daughters, Lydia Marie Lange Zwahr, and Patsy Ruth Lange Zwahr; granddaughter, Susan Gail Zwahr Meyer; three brothers; and four sisters.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Darrell Zwahr, Dean Zwahr, Dewayne Lange, John Lange, Jason Lange, Jeff Lange, Scott Zwahr and Troy Zwahr. Honorary pallbearers will be all other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.

The family wishes to thank Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation for the special care given to Lydia during her stay, and to Dr. Frank Leal for all his help over the years.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill or a charity of your choice.
