Obituary

Mae Ola Grebe, age 87 of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 23rd from 6-8 p.m. and funeral service Friday, February 24th at 10 a.m. both held at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Pastor Matthew Jacobs will officiate. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Mae Ola was born on July 14, 1929, to Charlie and Rosa (Horstmann) Witte in the Sandy Hill Community. She was baptized July 28, 1929 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by Rev. C.J. Appel and confirmed April 18, 1943 at Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham by Rev. T.H. Graalmann. She worked at Brenham Cotton Mill.

On March 13, 1947, Mae Ola married Edwin Grebe, Jr, of Brenham at Zion Lutheran Church in Houston. They made their home in Houston, where Mae Ola was employed as a secretary at Strait Oil Company. Upon retirement, they returned to Brenham.

Mae Ola enjoyed working puzzles, shopping, spending time in nature, especially feeding and watching birds, going out to eat with friends and family, and taking trips to Las Vegas and Louisiana.

Mae Ola is survived by son-in-law, Floyd Addicks; grandchildren, Cindy (Amir) Hiekel, and Dave (Trina) Addicks; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Darby, and Sean Cherry, and Jenna and Ruby Addicks; sister, Dorothy Hahn; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Bennie and Margie Bolcerek and Beverly Schlabach.

Mae Ola is preceded in death by parents, husband, daughter Suzanne Addicks, sister Margaret Loesch and brother Melvin Witte.

Pallbearers will be Dave Addicks, Gary Bolcerek, Curtis Konieczny, Dawn Konieczny, Tracy Mikolojchak, and Ben Bolcerek. Honorary pallbearer will be Floyd Addicks.

The family wishes to thank all caregivers at AMA Home Health Care and Kruse Rehabilitation Center for providing exceptional care and support.
