Obituary

Marjorie Ann Lewis, “Margie”, 65 of Burton, passed away December 20, 2016.

Visitation will be Monday, December 26th from 4-6 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 27th at 11 a.m. in St. John's United Church of Christ, Burton with Rev. Glen Schoeneberg officiating.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, December 28th at 1 p.m. in Oak Rest Cemetery, Medina, Texas.

Margie was born May 3, 1951 in Austin to Cecil and Hildegard (Fuchs) Lewis. She attended John Ireland Elementary School, John B Hood Junior High, and W. W. Samuell High School, where she was a cheerleader, member of the Concert Choir, and in the Jesters elite singing group. She played accordion, had a beautiful voice, and enjoyed singing at weddings and other events.

Margie received her degree from the University of Texas and worked for many years for the US Treasury in Dallas and Washington DC. She was nearly 12 years sober and a proud member of AA. She retired to her mother's hometown of Burton several years ago.

Her proudest achievement was her son Robert Lowry, the light of her life. He is a musician and teacher in the Houston area.

She is survived by her son Robert S Lowry, mother Hildegard M Lewis, sisters Martha Lavery, Kathy Trimper, brother Kervin Lewis and host of other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
