Obituary

Melanie Grote Landers, 35 of the Latium Community passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014 at Christus Dubuis Hospital in Bryan.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 18th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with rosary recited at 7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 19th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Jay Polisetty as celebrant. Burial will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Melanie was born November 6, 1979 in Brenham to Lee Roy Jr. and Karen (Lands) Grote. She was a 1998 graduate of Brenham High School. During high school, she worked at Dr. Paul LaRoche’s dental office. She became a licensed dental assistant. She also attended Charles and Sue’s Cosmetology School in Bryan. Melanie owned and operated Total Image Salon in Brenham.

On October 11, 2014, Melanie married Michael Landers at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member.

Melanie lived her faith. She put needs of others before her own and loved to make people laugh. Her dog Rosie was “her baby”.

Preceding her in death are: maternal grandparents, Thurman and MaryDene Lands; paternal grandparents, Lee Roy and Pearlie Grote; uncle, Alex Grote; cousin, Kevin Kwiatkowski.

Surviving loving family includes: husband, Michael Jason Landers; parents, Lee Roy, Jr. and Karen Grote; brother, Lee Roy Grote, III; aunts and uncles, Angie and Raymond Kwiatkowski, Judy Grote, Larry and Patricia Bean; cousins, Nicole Kwiatkowski and special friend Chris Harris, William and Molly Grote, Chad and Amanda Dismukes, Amanda Janovsky, Christopher Janovsky; father-in-law, Michael Landers; mother-in-law, Debra Wiswell; sister-in-law, Crystal Landers; brother-in-law, Nathan Christopher; maternal grandparents-in-law, Orlies P. and Shirley Brown; special grandmother, Ethel Gurrech; niece-in-law, Lauran Dodd.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Vincik, Michael Branton, Glenn Barnhart, Randy Haverlah, Cliff Rudloff, William Grote, Christopher Janovsky, Derek Hargrave. Honorary pallbearers will be Dawson Rudloff, Stoney Lacina, Ron Haren, Juan DeLos Santos.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to defray medical expenses at Bank of Brenham or to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Capital Campaign Fund.
