Obituary


Melvin “Bootsie” Huebner, 88 of Burton, passed away Monday February 29, 2016 in Houston Methodist St. John Hospital in Clear Lake, Texas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 2nd from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Viewing will begin at St John’s United Church of Christ in Burton Thursday, March 3rd at 8:00 a.m. with funeral services being held at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Glen Schoeneberg and Mrs. Risa Garza will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Bootsie was born October 17, 1927 to parents Orso and Hester (Foehner) Huebner in Burton, Texas. He was a Burton High School and TAMU (class of 1950) graduate.
He served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. His employment was with Southern Pacific Railroad and Texaco, from where he retired as a computer programmer. Bootsie returned to Burton. One of his many past times was cracking pecans. He was a lifetime member of St. John’s United Church of Christ and member of Burton American Legion Post 242. Bootsie was a gentle spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand, but never drawing attention to himself. His hometown Burton community will truly miss him.

Having been preceded in death by his parents Orso and Hester Huebner, brother Jack Huebner and aunt Nelda Foehner, his survivors include: brother William Huebner, nieces Denise Green, Nancy Castle, Carolyn Pokluda and Janet Mack and nephew Denis Huebner.
