Obituary

Morris “Bubba” Brewton, 83, of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

Visitation will be Friday, May 13th from 5 - 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 14th, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville with Reverend Erbey Gonzalez officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ben Meyer, Edwin Weiss, David Hughes, Dakota Brewton, Byron Hrbacek and Bradley Hrbacek.

Morris Ray Brewton was born on July 16, 1932, in Clay, Texas to Raymond and Katherine (Duckworth) Brewton. Bubba was a graduate of Brenham High School and Blinn College. He served in the U.S. Army. On May 5, 1957, he and Helen Kugel were united in marriage at Grace Lutheran Church. Bubba worked at NCI Building Systems in Houston as a plant supervisor for many years. At retirement, he returned to Brenham. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville. Bubba was a talented musician, giving freely of his time to serve his community by playing the fiddle for residents of local nursing homes. He enjoyed dancing, fishing, hunting, and raising cattle.

Bubba was preceded in death by: Helen Brewton, his wife of forty years; parents, Raymond and Katherine Brewton; brothers-in-law, Clarence Herzog and Don Behrend; and great nephew, Travis Janner.

Surviving loving family includes: son, David Brewton and wife Dawn of Brenham; daughter, Jenny Hrbacek and husband Dean of Sugarland; grandchildren, Sarah and Dakota Brewton and Bradley, Byron, and Amanda Hrbacek; sister, Elizabeth Herzog of Clay, Mary Kay Janner and husband Charles of Clay; sister-in-law, Elisabeth Behrend Bennett; nephew, Rusty Janner; niece, Gayle Bednar; and close friend, Judy Rudloff.

Memorial donations are requested to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville.
