Marlin was born September 11, 1938 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Joseph Virgil and Grace Bernice (Wilkins) Pace. He graduated from Glen Rose High School. Having been a minister’s son living in Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas, it was fitting that Marlin would follow in his father’s footsteps. He received an Associate of Arts Degree from Southwestern Assemblies of God College.

Marlin loved people in a sincere and personal way. He worked in the grocery business, beginning at a young age with his brothers. He was a bookkeeper in Richmond and soon met his future wife, Doris Wieghat of Rosenberg. On November 18, 1960, they were united in marriage in Rosenberg. Here they raised their family, while Marlin was employed by various grocery stores and Imperial Sugar Co. His first ministry was a new church in East Bernard. In 1978, the Pace family moved to Brenham. Marlin served as pastor of the Brenham First Assembly of God for nine years. His final pastoral position was with Snook Assembly of God church, where he also remained a member after his retirement. In later years, Marlin worked for H.E.B, where he retired in 2003. He also assisted families at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Marlin enjoyed gardening, writing songs, singing and playing the piano. He continued to assist community churches in ministry until his death.
