Richard E. Miller

Richard E. Miller, 75 of Brenham, passed away Friday, March 11, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Bryan.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 15th at 3:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Richard was born January 4, 1941 in Washington, D.C. to Charles L. Miller and Mary Alice (Ferguson) Malpass. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served aboard the USS Saratoga. On September 2, 1961, he married Catherine “Cathy” Burke in Washington, D.C. He worked in construction. Richard enjoyed gardening and was known for his beautiful landscape. He was a master craftsman and did detailed woodworking. He was seen often at local festivals selling his birdhouses. Richard cherished time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving loving family includes: his children and their spouses, Richard, Jr. and Karen Miller of College Station, Tracy and John Baber of King George, Virginia, Darlene and Jerry Vierus of Brenham, Michael and Donise Miller of Wichita, Kansas; grandchildren, Kevin Baber and special friend Crystal Crawford, Nicholas and Erin Vierus, Nichole and Chad Gandy, Natalie Vierus and fiancé Derrick Kramer, Mason Miller and special friend Rika Williams, Darian, Caitlyn and Leah Miller; great grandchildren, Braeden and Baylor Gandy, Kennedy Cruz, Carter and Cooper Vierus, soon to be Emberly Miller; special friend and caregiver Kim Krause; special friend Barbara Branch; brother and sister-in-law, Charles, Jr. and Maredith Miller; pet companion Elvis.

He was preceded in death by parents and wife Cathy Miller in 2000.
