Roberta Jean (Padgett) Avants

Roberta Jean (Padgett) Avants, age 69 of Brenham, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 in her home. A memorial service is planned to celebrate her life on what would have been her 70th birthday. The service will be held Friday, September 5, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., at Brenham Church of Christ with Doug Hall officiating.

Roberta was born in San Antonio, TX on September 5, 1944 to parents Nona Mae (Knox) and Robert Johnson Padgett. On January 3, 1981 she was married to Truell Avants in Christoval, TX. She had been employed at South Market Cleaners until 2002 when she retired. Roberta was a member of Brenham Church of Christ and was a steady volunteer at the church’s food pantry.

Survivors include Daughters Tammy (Alfred) Mechwitz of Brenham; Laura (Paul) Leifeste of San Angelo; son Lawrence (Lisa) Greer of Burton; daughter Virginia (Damon) Gross of Justin, TX; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren.

Her parents, husband Truell Avants and son Erik Jason Greer preceded her in death.
