Roy Goeke, 62 of Kenney, Texas, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017, at The Arbors of Briarwood in Bellville.

Roy was born March 28, 1955 in Bellville to parents Burgess Charles and Irene (Glaeser) Goeke. His baptism and confirmation were at St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville. He graduated from Bellville High School.

Roy was an easy-going, hardworking, gentle soul with an independent spirit and a unique sense of humor. He enjoyed ranching, caring for his cattle and going out to eat. Remembered by his family for his devotion to his late parents, he was loved by his niece and nephews who, all at some point, worked for him on his farm during their younger years. Roy courageously fought his battle with cancer simultaneously with his sister, Joyce Goeke Dean, and is now joined in peace with her. Heartfelt thanks to the Flowers and Kott families, who were an unending source of love and devotion for Roy throughout his life and especially during his battle with cancer.

His loving family survives: sister Elaine Wickel of Kenney; brother and sister-in-law Burgess DeWane and Ruth Goeke of Brenham; brother-in-law Billy Dean of Brenham; nieces and nephews John and Michelle Goeke, Nolan Jr. and Tammi Wickel, Jason and Brandi Wickel, Jenny Dean and Fabiano Pedrotta, Jacob and Theresa Dean; along with special friends Fort Flowers and Gary Kott Families.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, sister Joyce Dean and brother-in-law Nolan Wickel.

Pallbearers will be Jason Wickel, Nolan Wickel, Jr., John Goeke, Daniel Flowers, Reagan Kott, Jacob Dean, David Spreen and Gary Kott. Honorary pallbearer will be Fort Flowers.

Memorials are requested to St. John Lutheran Church of Bellville or Hospice Brazos Valley.
