Obituary

Sarah Zimmermann, 54, of Burton, Texas was wrapped in her heavenly Father’s arms on Sunday, July 27, 2014 in the presence of her loved ones and under the care of St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg. Pastor Denise Seymour will officiate.

Sarah’s journey as a child of God began with her birth August 30, 1959 in Mason, Texas to parents, Pastor Daniel and Evelyn Zimmermann and baptism at St. John Lutheran Church of Castell. Sarah was a 1977 graduate of Brenham High School and in 1981 received a Bachelor’s of Elementary Education from Texas Lutheran College in Seguin. She enjoyed her friendship and service in the Beta Alpha Sigma Sorority while at TLC. For 31 years, Sarah showed great love and devotion to hundreds of elementary students as a teacher in Splendora and Burton Independent School Districts. She enjoyed hearing from all her “kids” as they continued their education and became adults. Her nieces and nephews fondly remember her gentle grammer “lessons” that were part of many family conversations. Of course, what they remember more are the special treats Sarah freely showered upon them as she happily “spoiled” them as only an aunt can. Sarah proudly served as a President of the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synodical Women’s Organization and formed many friendships through her term. A member of St Paul Lutheran of Rehburg, she enjoyed weekly bible studies with the lunch bunch and singing in the church choir. Sarah loved traveling and spending time with her family. Her parents preceded her in death. She is survived by sister and brother in law, Ruth and James Schulenberg of Burton, brother and sister in law Mark and Marsha Zimmermann of Bellaire, nieces and nephews Stephanie, Steven and James Jarvis of Austin, Susan and Jim Kiel of Burton, Samantha Schulenberg of Austin, Jason and Kyle Zimmermann of Bellaire, goddaughter Amy Jo Mutchler of Tomball, and beloved uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Al and Rosa Cardenas, Alan Zimmermann, Jimmy Zimmermann, Byron Zimmermann, Rebeca Zimmermann Friedman, Jeff Zimmermann, Jennifer Zimmermann, Peggy Schwarze, Risse Snellgrove, Lisa Bobbitt, and her fellow teachers and former students.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul of Rehburg, Adam’s Angels, the American Diabetes Association or Hospice Brazos Valley.

In closing for this very short “biography”, I must interject a more personal note:
Her spirit of light and the blessings she shared with so many in her brief lifetime can be summed up in one of her many, many favorite songs… “This little light of mine I’m gonna let it shine…” May your light keep shining in us all. We love you {Aunt} Sarah.
