Selma (Loesch) Wellmann

Selma Wellmann of Brenham passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the family residence.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 8 at 3 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastors Matthew Jacobs and William Holzer officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Selma was born on November 8, 1928 in the Prairie Hill Community of Washington County to Otto Carl and Meta (Noerenberg) Loesch. She was baptized November 11, 1928 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill by Pastor Paul Gogolin; confirmation verse “Be Thou Faithful Until Death and I Will Give You a Crown of Life.” On November 17, 1946 she was united in marriage to Robert Wellmann at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville by Pastor R. J. Weber. In 1953 she and her husband started the Wellmann Upholstery and Furniture business, in which she was a very active partner. In 2002 she retired due to failing health. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church for over fifty years, where she taught Sunday School and served on the Altar Guild. Selma cherished time with her family.

Survivors include: husband of seventy years, Robert Wellmann; son and daughter-in-law David and Kim Wellmann; daughter and sons-in-law Dorothy and Ronnie Holle, Alan and Myrna Siemsglusz; grandchildren Stacy and Ryan Aschenbeck, Kyle Holle, Steven and Adrienne Siemsglusz, Alison and Kevin Dreyer, Lindsey and Travis Eckert, Matthew and Julia Wellmann, Blake Wellmann; great-grandchildren Reid, Mia and Zane Aschenbeck, Brayden Holle, Addison, Bryce and Collin Siemsglusz, Lane and Will Dreyer; sisters Hilda Lorenz, Alma Kenjura, Rose Lee Lohmeyer, Ella Flynt, Edna Schroeder; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ernest and Earline Wellmann; caregiver Gabby Lechuga; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by: infant son Ricky Wellmann, daughter Laverne Siemsglusz, parents Otto and Meta Loesch, brothers and sisters-in-law Melvin and Lydia Loesch, Arnold and Bonnie Loesch, sisters and brothers-in-law Elsie and Raymond Tegeler, Norma and Louis Meschwitz, brothers-in-law James Buchanan, Roy Lorenz, Charlie Kenjura, Clarence Lohmeyer, Truman Flynt, Charlie Schroeder, mother-in-law and father-in-law Henry Sr. and Ida (Neumann) Wellmann, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Henry Jr. and Hilda Wellmann, Eddie and Ella Wellmann, Herbert and Hilda Wellmann, Raymond and Carrie Mae Wellmann, Harry and Lenora Wellmann, Bill and Lillie Behnke, Willie and Lonie Addicks.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Aschenbeck, Kyle Holle, Steven Siemsglusz, Kevin Dreyer, Matthew Wellmann, Blake Wellmann and Travis Eckert. Honorary pallbearers will be all great-grandchildren.

Memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.
