Obituary

Sharon Collier Wilcox Card, age 67 of Brenham, Texas, passed away May 27, 2017.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 10 at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Brenham. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas.

She was born February 4, 1950 in Henrietta, Texas to Floydd “Buster” and Mary Sue (Bryant) Collier. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Houston at Victoria. Sharon loved children and teaching. For 23 and a half years, she taught at Markham Elementary. She taught remedial reading for five years, third grade for five years, and Special Education for thirteen and a half years. She touched many lives and she learned a lot from these children, such as compassion and love for all of God’s children. She worked hard and was a wonderful single mom to her four children. The day after her youngest child married, she met the love of her life, David. On February 12, 2000, Sharon married David Michael Card in Markham, Texas.

Sharon enjoyed genealogy, sewing, and spending time with her grandkids. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she loved singing in the choir and teaching classes.

Sharon was preceded in death by her loving parents and her brothers Calvin Collier and Glynn Collier.

Her loving family includes: husband, David Card; children, Kathy Wilcox of Boulder, Colorado, Tom Wilcox of Grand Junction, Colorado, Glynn and Hope Wilcox of Dallas, Texas, Mary and Ray Petersen of Brenham, Texas; grandchildren, Jaqi Fairbanks; Izaiah Wilcox, Jaxon Wilcox, Suzie Wilcox and a new little grandchild due in December; Megan and Jacob Roses, Rachel Petersen, Emily Petersen, and Grace Petersen; sisters, Kyy Minkert, Sue Neuman and sister-in-law, JoAnn Collier; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis and Gretchen Card.

Pallbearers will be Glynn Wilcox, Izaiah Wilcox, Jaxon Wilcox, Ray Petersen, Jacob Roses, Larry Knox, Sam Robinson and Clarence Giles.
