Obituary

Theckla Hofschnieder, age 101 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6-00 p.m., Friday, December 16 at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 17 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill with Pastor Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Theckla was born July 23, 1915 to Henry and Sophie (Hodde) Hofschnieder in the Kuykendall Community of Brenham, Texas. She was baptized November 8, 1915 in Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wiedeville by Pastor K. Mueller and confirmed March 30, 1930 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill by Pastor George Czerkus. She was a member of Ladies Circle, taught Sunday School and enjoyed tacking quilts. Living on the same farm where she was born, she thoroughly enjoyed the farm life. Theckla was a faithful caregiver of her family and leaves a legacy of humble service and love.

Survivors include niece Annie Mae Studhalter and husband Edwin; great nieces Connie Lehrmann and husband Royce, Danna Winkelmann and husband Alan; great nephew Jim Studhalter and wife Kay along with great-great nieces, great-great nephews and great-great-great nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Sophie (Hodde) Hofschnieder; brother Reinhardt W. Hofschnieder and wife Emma; sister Alvina Heckman and husband Emil; nephew Henry E. Hofschnieder; step-sisters Sophie Hodde, Malinda Witte and husband Willie, Alma Boortz and husband Paul.

Great-great nephews serving as pallbearers are Christopher Lehrmann, Blake Winkelmann, Dane Winkelmann, Seth Parker, Caleb Parker and Derek Chang. Great-great nieces and great-great nephew serving as honorary pallbearers are Allison Lehrmann, Katherine Chang, Lauren Winkelmann, Kailey Studhalter, Kayla Hartmann and Chase Parker.

Memorials are requested to St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill.

The family wishes to thank Kruse Village and Hospice Brazos Valley for the excellent care they provided to Theckla.
