Obituary

Thomas Dale Stanley passed away peacefully at Argent Court Assisted Living in Brenham, Texas on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the age of 96.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 24 at Industry Methodist Church in Industry, Texas with Rev. Michael Selzer officiating.

Dale was born on July 1, 1920 to Thomas Henry and Ethel Stanley in Texas City, Texas. He attended the University of Texas and later worked for Amoco Refining and British Petroleum in Texas City.

He married Wanda Walker in 1942 and together they raised two sons, Thomas Dale II and Michael Craig; two daughters, Cathy Gail and Leslie Sue.

Dale served in the military for 38 months and returned to his job at Amoco.

Dale built their home in LaMarque and was very good at this. He and Wanda were members of the Methodist church, first in Texas City and later in LaMarque. He sang in the choir, worked with the youth as well as the boy scouts and was also a very good Sunday School teacher. They are presently members of Industry Methodist Church in Industry, Texas.

In 1963 they bought a farm in Round Top, Texas and it was his love. After his retirement in 1979, he spent many happy days there.

Preceded in death by his parents and son, Michael Craig; Dale is survived by his beloved wife of 73 years, Wanda, of Brenham; a son, Thomas Dale II and his wife Linda; a daughter Cathy Gail Moore and husband David; and a daughter, Leslie Sue Johnson and husband Mark; three daughters-in-law, Juanita Stanley, Judy Robinson and Sandra Stanley, as well as seven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. He was an adored father and grandfather and dearly loved by many.

A Dale Stanley family reunion was held the last week in June in Wimberley, Texas with all 42 members of the family in attendance. A wonderful five days was enjoyed by all.
