Obituary

Verlyn Jozwiak Busa, 84, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Germantown, Tennessee.

The rosary will be recited Friday, July 8th at 7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 9th at 2 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham, Texas followed by graveside services at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. A reception at the church will follow graveside services.

Verlyn was born August 20, 1931, in Chappell Hill, Texas, to Martha Bilski Jozwiak and Walter Jozwiak. She married Edmund Busa July 26, 1952. He preceded her in death in December, 1998.

Verlyn was a dedicated stay at home wife and mother to six children. When she wasn't cooking, she was chauffeuring her children. She enjoyed various activities including bowling, ceramics, gardening, playing a variety of card games, and attending any classes held at the local civic center. Her love of animals was unending. Any injured animal found food, care and shelter in her home. Birds kept in laundry baskets were frequent visitors as well as stray dogs wandering the neighborhood. She brought home, in her car from the farm, a newborn calf to bottle feed because its mother had abandoned the calf. She couldn't bear to let it starve. Our yard always had cages for injured rabbits, turtles and squirrels. She had a soft spot for all of God’s creatures.

She is survived by: her daughters, Donna Busa LeBlanc of Ballwin, Missouri, Karen Busa Hurley of Germantown, Tennessee, Nancy Busa Culver of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl Busa Gaechter of Frisco, Texas, Teri Busa Sweeney of Huffman, Texas; her son Ronald Busa and wife Helen of Austin, Texas; and her nine grandchildren, Glen Fountain, Ryan LeBlanc, Jaquelyne Hurley, Justin Hurley, Leslie Culver Kwasny, James Culver, Jr., Christopher Culver, Veronica Busa, Thomas Busa, and Garrett Sweeney. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers please make donations to The American Heart Association or your local SPCA.
