William "Willie" Fred Rosenbaum

William “Willie” Fred Rosenbaum, 67 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8th from 5-7 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 9th at 10 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill with Rev. Kyle Merkle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Willie was born February 24, 1949 in Washington County to Hilbert and Linda (Hermsdorfer) Rosenbaum. He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church and also attended school there. As a youth, he enjoyed riding bikes and playing baseball with his neighborhood friends. Family and baseball were his passions in life. Willie was a 1967 graduate of Brenham High School where he played baseball and football. While playing Senior Little League, his team advanced to the World’s Series and placed second. He also attended Blinn College and played baseball excelling to the Jr. College World’s Series. He married Karen Schlottman, his high school sweetheart, September 26, 1968.

Willie was employed with TxDOT for 30 years. From there, he retired.

While his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren, Willie also enjoyed: travelling with his family and friends, fast pitch softball, coaching and umpiring Little League games. He was also active in Boy Scouts with his three (3) sons. Willie was an avid Astros, Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy fan.

His membership included: St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill, where he served on church council and property committee, sang in Men’s and Gospel Choirs; Prairie Hill Shooting Club and Prairie Hill Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving loving family includes: wife, Karen Rosenbaum; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Kim Rosenbaum, Brian Rosenbaum, Kyle and Stephanie Rosenbaum; grandchildren, Allie, Mason, Alex, Michael, Kayla, Brayden and Cameron Rosenbaum; mother-in-law, Ruby Schlottman; brother and sister-in-law, Wilbert and Bonnie Rosenbaum; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Franklin Schroeder; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Sandra and David Lange, Debra and Glen Kovar, Linda and Morris Mcculloch along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: parents; brother, Hilbert “Zonnie” Rosenbaum, Jr. and father-in-law, Lonnie Schlottman.

Pallbearers will be: Brent Kovar, Allen Rosenbaum, Landon Fritz, Justin Fritz, Drew Standley, Richard Rosenbaum and Robert Rosenbaum.

Memorials are requested to St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill.
